Dear David, I will never forget the time when His Majesty passed away. You came all the way from Manchester to Cairo to see my children and me. In those difficult days, you were a true friend.
Your life was truly remarkable. At the age of thirteen, your father told you to leave school and work in a shop in the bazaar. At sixteen, you left that job to work for yourself. And at eighteen, you left our country with only a small sum of money and went to Manchester, beginning your journey entirely on your own.
When His late Majesty traveled to England, and a group of our compatriots met with him, you were there. His Majesty asked what you did. And when you answered, he said: “But you are still a child.”
Throughout all these years, we remained in touch. You cared deeply about the situation in Iran. You became Lord Alliance, yet you told me that above all, you were proud to be a child of Kashan.
You will always be in my heart. May your soul rest in peace.
